“Howie” was born and raised in upstate New York. He received a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1974 and a law degree from the same school in 1977. As a law student, he worked with Neighborhood Legal Services and Prisoner Legal Services in Buffalo. After law school, he served as a VISTA lawyer in Boston, before relocating to Springfield in 1980 to join the law firm. Howie concentrates his practice in lead paint, personal injury, and civil rights litigation, as well as wills and estates and bankruptcy. He was on the Board of Directors of Western Massachusetts Legal Services for many years and served as Board President for eight years. With respect to his ethical standards and professional ability, Howie has consistently received the highest ratings available from fellow members of the bar and the judiciary. In 2013, Howie was selected as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in the area of personal injury law.
